Moving or Replacing
Your Roof?
We safely remove your solar system, coordinate with your roofer or moving crew, and reinstall everything exactly as designed — protecting your equipment, your warranty, and your investment.
Important: Never let your roofer remove solar panels without a licensed solar contractor present. Improper disconnection can void your panel warranty, damage your inverter, and create serious electrical safety hazards. We coordinate directly with your roofing team to make the process seamless.
Common Reasons for Detach & Reinstall
Roof Replacement
Your roof needs replacement but your solar system is in the way. We safely remove every panel, racking component, and wire before roofing begins and reinstall once the new roof is complete.
Moving to a New Home
Taking your solar system with you to your new home? We professionally decommission your current system and reinstall it at your new property — saving you the cost of brand-new equipment.
Roof Repairs or Structural Work
Major repairs, chimney rebuilds, or structural reinforcement sometimes require partial or full panel removal. We can take down only what's necessary and reinstall exactly as before.
System Upgrade or Expansion
Upgrading to a newer racking system, adding panels to your existing array, or reconfiguring your layout? We remove, plan, and reinstall with optimized placement for maximum output.
Step-by-Step: How We Do It
A methodical, documented process ensures your system goes back together exactly as it came apart — or better.
System Documentation
Before touching anything, we photograph and document every panel position, wire run, conduit path, and mounting point. Your system will go back exactly as designed — or better.
Safe Electrical Disconnection
Our certified electricians safely disconnect all DC and AC wiring at the array, inverter, and utility disconnect. The system is fully de-energized and locked out before any mechanical work begins.
Careful Panel & Hardware Removal
All panels, mounting hardware, and racking are removed methodically and stored safely. Every component is inspected for wear and labeled to ensure accurate reinstallation.
Secure Storage (If Needed)
When there's a gap between removal and reinstallation (e.g., during a multi-week roofing project), we store your equipment securely and insured at no additional risk to you.
Reinstallation & Commissioning
Once your roof or work is complete, we reinstall the full system — panels, racking, wiring — and perform a complete commissioning test. Your system returns to full production, warranty intact.

Detach & Reinstall FAQ
Everything you need to know before removing your solar system.
Will removing my solar panels void the warranty?
Not when we do it. Because we're the original installer and a certified professional team, we can detach and reinstall your system without affecting manufacturer warranties on panels, inverters, or racking. We also maintain our own workmanship warranty throughout the process.
How long does detach and reinstall take?
Panel removal typically takes 1 day for an average residential system. Reinstallation takes another 1–2 days including electrical reconnection and testing. Total turnaround depends on how long your roofing project takes in between.
Can I take my solar panels when I sell my house?
Whether you can take your panels depends on Florida law, your financing agreement, and the terms of your home sale. In many cases it's legally permissible — but we recommend consulting with a real estate attorney first. We're glad to assist with the physical relocation once you've confirmed your rights.
My roofer says they can remove the panels themselves — should I let them?
We strongly advise against it. Roofing contractors are not licensed to work on electrical systems, and improper solar disconnection can create safety hazards, void warranties, and damage components. A certified solar installer is required for proper de-energization and removal.
What if some of my panels or hardware are damaged during the roofing project?
We document everything before removal. If any components show damage caused by the roofer, that documentation supports your claim against the roofing contractor's insurance. We'll help you navigate the process and replace any damaged equipment as needed.
